One Platform, Two Paths
The Contrasting Visions Presented at Charlie Kirk's Memorial Service
There are moments in life when clarity comes to us like an unexpected gift. Suddenly, choices sharpen. Light breaks into darkness. Goodness shines while cruelty is unmasked. A fork in the road emerges and two very different paths stretch out before us.
On Sunday afternoon, from the same stage, the world was shown two distinct ways of living. Two distinct moral visions. Two radically different understandings of leadership. One of these paths leads to life. The other has always ended in ruin. Here’s how the two distinct ways of living were expressed:
The path of love, forgiveness, and unity:
“On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ That young man [Kirk’s killer], I forgive him because it is what Christ did. It’s what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love and always love – love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.” – Erika Kirk
The path of hate, retribution, and division:
“[Kirk] did not hate his opponents, he wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagree with Charlie. I hate my opponents and I don’t want what’s best for them.” – Donald Trump
Rarely are two antithetical ways of living and leading set side by side with such clarity. Only one of these paths is the way of Jesus, and only one of these paths will lead to life.
